Thanks for visiting the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina stewardship and estate planning site! It is my personal prayer and passion that this be a tangible ministry in your life.
We are told that approximately 70% of Americans do not have a current will. Wow! The ramifications of this on children, surviving spouses, on taxes and fees is immeasurable. So, why do so many fail to plan for the inevitable? I think there are many reasons for this. Fear of dying, procrastination, confusion about the estate planning process, the cost of creating a will… and more.
Actually, planning your estate can be a wonderful process where you have an opportunity to reflect upon God's blessings in your life... your family, the possessions that God has allowed you to manage, and your faith. In order to assist you in this process, we have provided some “layman friendly” estate planning information that can enable you to protect your family as well as be a wise steward of the assets that God has entrusted to you to use for His glory while you are here on this earth.
The Stewardship, Wills, and Trusts link below provides over 100 pages of helpful information about estate planning and giving options. As you browse around, you will find important information that will help you as you consider options for your family and your assets.
If you just want to get down to business, you can click on the Estate Plan Organizer (EPO) link and walk yourself through a guided tutorial/data gathering process. All of the information you log in is confidential. The EPO does not ask for social security numbers or bank account numbers. And, if you establish your personal log in and password, you can continue working on your plan for 60 days. This will give you time to think about your wishes and gather needed information. At the end, you can print it and take it to your personal attorney or ask for help. No one will see your entries unless you submit at the end and ask for one of your friends at the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina or our partners at PhilanthroCorp (a Christ-centered estate planning firm) to review your information and contact you.
So, grab a cup of coffee or tea, kick off your shoes and browse around.
Thank you for allowing YOUR Foundation to serve you!
