Endowing Kingdom Growth

The 2002 - 2007 phase of Empowering Kingdom Growth, established by the SC Baptist Convention, provides a new vision for empowering South Carolina Baptists to experience Kingdom growth.  As part of the support of the EKG initiatives, the Baptist Foundation has focused on Endowing Kingdom Growth - promoting support of Kingdom work through endowment giving. 

In 2005, endowments and investments through the Baptist Foundation provided a total of $1,966,261 in distributions or investment income to benefit primarily Baptist causes.  Over 96% of these dollars went to Southern Baptist ministries, with over 80% of this total being for South Carolina Baptist ministries!  Currently, the Foundation holds over 380 endowments, supporting ministries from the Cooperative Program to the local church.  Ministries receiving 2005 distributions are listed below.

  • 32.92% supported SC Baptist Convention causes, including...

  • $305,459 for various Convention ministries, including new church starts, disaster relief and other programs

  • $262,384 to the Cooperative Program

  • $79,413 for Convention scholarships

  • 33.50% supported SC Baptist Convention institutions, including...

  • $219,220 to SC Baptist Ministries for the Aging, Inc., including Bethea  and Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Communities

  • $122,007 to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home

  • $192,185 to the Baptist Foundation

  • $40,805 to Anderson University

  • $41,934 to North Greenville University

  • $30,471 to Charleston Southern University

  • $15,914 to the Baptist Foundation for scholarship awards to college/seminary students
  • $1,272 for SC WMU

  • In addition, the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina awarded $40,395.00 in grants to primarily SC Baptist ministries for Kingdom Growth ministry projects.

  • 14.48% supported ministries in local SC Baptist Churches and Associations

    • $284,788 to local ministries

  • 15.46% supported other Southern Baptist Convention causes, including...

  • $221,614 to the International Mission Board

  • $61,002 to the North American Mission Board

  • $10,893 to Southern Baptist seminaries

  • $10,517 to other Southern Baptist causes

Anyone can become involved in Endowing Kingdom Growth.  You can memorialize or honor a loved one with a gift, large or small, to an existing endowment that provides for the ministry of your choice.  New endowments, supporting ministries designated by the donor, are created through trusts , your will, or other qualified charitable gifts.  If you’d like to learn more about becoming a ministry partner, call the Foundation today!
